Top issues during term (8)(General)
New City Manager selection
The city manager's salary and the direction of city administration affect how your tax dollars are spent, but no specific figures were discussed publicly.
Downtown DORA alcohol district
Modest — BID volunteers manage cups and signage; JPD enforcement expected to be minimal based on peer-community experience.
Data center opposition at the GM site
The fight is over whether promised tax revenue is worth possible higher power costs and infrastructure strain.
city manager salary
The proposed base salary range of $240,000-$270,500 is slightly below the outgoing manager's $253,000 at the low end and well above peer-city salaries at the top.
city manager resignation
Search firm costs already budgeted; not specified in the meeting.
public hearing on backyard duck ordinance
If passed, expect possible permit fees and coop costs for duck owners, plus city time spent on inspections and nuisance complaints.
cruising ordinance update
Taxpayers could see extra police enforcement costs, while repeat cruisers may face fines if the ordinance is tightened.
property acquisition
Taxpayers could see new revenue and jobs if redevelopment succeeds, but they’re also on the hook for site costs, cleanup, and any public spending needed to make the project happen.
